Dual Enrollment

Through our Dual Enrollment Program, you will take college courses at your high school campus. Your classmates will be your peers from your school or district only. Classes focus on College Transfer and Career Pathways and can earn you high school and college credits. If your high school offers Dual Enrollment courses, contact your counselor to find out how to enroll in available courses. You do not pay tuition or fees and are not charged for textbooks or classroom supplies. Textbooks are open source or provided for free.

College Early Start

You may register for any courses offered at 188bet备用网址 College while in high school or in adult ed school, as a College Early Start student, if you meet prerequisites. You may take "regular" 188bet备用网址 classes on campus or online. College Early Start allows you to take courses for college credit only. Each school determines whether high school credit will be granted for classes completed at 188bet备用网址. Effective Fall 2020, as a high school student, you pay no tuition or fees, but you are responsible for the cost of textbooks and class supplies.

Are my classes going to be online? Where?

Due to COVID, most dual enrollment courses are offered online and should not overlap with your high school classes, as they don鈥檛 have specific meeting times.听听Online classes are delivered via听听(a learning management system).

To access your online class(es), refer to听How to Log into Canvas.听Please keep in mind that you may听not听be able to access your Canvas course until the start date. Not all instructors open the classes before the start of the term.听

Do not delay logging on and participating!听Lack of going to class and participating in discussions and submitting assignments will result in听your being dropped听from the course by the instructor, without notice.听听

Will my online classes have meetings?

188bet备用网址 online courses are听asynchronous. There are no required in-person or live Zoom meetings. The only exception to holding live meetings is for courses with hands-on labs or performance arts practice sessions.

Your instructors may choose to hold Zoom lectures, but have been asked to make them听optional听and record them for your later viewing.

You will read or听view lectures, take tests/quizzes, participate in discussions, etc. in your Canvas classroom(s). Plan and schedule time to 鈥榞o鈥� to class regularly,听 complete assignments, and participate.听 There are open and close dates to assignments and strict due deadlines. Do not miss them. These are college courses and your grades will affect your GPA and college transcripts.

You should also听download the Canvas Mobile app听to check into the class more frequently for updates on grades, due dates and messages. See FAQ #7.

Weekly office hours in Zoom may be scheduled to questions raise concerns. You may also reach out to your instructor via the InBox (mail) of Canvas.

How do I log into Canvas?

188bet备用网址 College has adopted a single sign-on service (Okta) which you will use to log into Canvas, your email, and Office 365 apps.

To access your online class, you need to log into听. You may not be able to access your online course until the start date. Please check your course鈥檚 start date in the听Schedule of Classes听to verify when it begins.

How to Log into Canvas

Log-in using your OKTA听username and password

Enter your OKTA password.
Once you log into OKTA, you will be able to access Canvas.

I have not received anything from my Instructor. How do I get started?

Not all instructors send out welcome messages, but you are expected to log into the course on the first day of classes. Failure to log on and participate actively may result in your being dropped from the course.听

Is there a mobile app for Canvas for students?

Students听can access Canvas from any browser on your Android/iOS device.听However, mobile browsers are not supported, and features may not function as expected compared听to viewing Canvas in a fully supported desktop or laptop browser.

Please provide your name and听bday听to look up if you are in听My188bet备用网址. Perhaps you are set up but never received the email.听
If you are not in the system, please provide a screenshot of the confirmation number that you received when you applied and send it to Judy Perez听judy.perez@deltacollege.edu听in Admissions.听

My parent / guardian does not have an email account? What do I enter in that field?

If at all possible, please assist your parent/guardian to get a gmail or yahoo email account.听

Alternatively, you may enter your email address, but include your parent鈥檚 / guardian鈥檚 full name. The confirmation email for the parent will come to your email, once you complete and submit the form. Call your parent/guardian over to sign the form and click on Finish.听

It will then go to your High School Official Designee for the final signature.听

I completed my CES form, but it still says that I have a hold.

In most likelihood,听it鈥檚听not signed by everyone yet or it鈥檚 not processed. Once you complete your CES form, it goes to your parent for a signature, then to your counselor and your principal. Then,听it鈥檚听routed back to 188bet备用网址 to process and remove your CES hold.听You can contact听collegeearlystart@deltacollege.edu听to inquire about the status of your CES form and if it鈥檚鈥榮tuck鈥� in the process.听

I applied for the CA College Promise Grant, but was denied, will this affect my chances of getting enrolled in classes?

No, this will not affect your chances of getting enrolled into classes or waiving your tuition and fees.听High school students are required听to complete the California College Promise Grant (CCPG) Application as part of the听application process; however, you will not be responsible for any fees, regardless of your parents鈥� income and CCPG eligibility.
High school students are required to complete this fee waiver application once every academic school year.听

If I am interested in taking ENG 1A or Math 12, do I have to take a placement test?

No, no assessment tests are required.听If you will enroll in听English 1A or Math 12, you听must request听that the Placement Center听clear your level.

Please听wait听until your CES form is processed prior to submitting your request.

You will be notified via email once you are cleared.听

I am currently enrolled in ENG 1A. Do I have to wait until grades have been posted before enrolling in ENG 1B for next term?

If you are currently taking English 1A, you can go ahead and enroll in English 1B for next term. The system will allow you to enroll.

However, prior to the start of next term鈥檚 classes, Admissions runs a check against grades.听 If you did not pass with a C or better, you will get dropped from English 1B.

How do I access My188bet备用网址 Portal?

To Login to My188bet备用网址:

1. Go to the听
2. Your username is your 188bet备用网址 College Student ID number (included in a welcome message after you applied for Admission)
3. Your password is听SJdc!听plus your听6 digit birthdate听 (SJ in caps and dc in lower case)

Example: If your birthdate is 06/04/1995 your password is听SJdc!060495
Passwords are case sensitive (鈥淪鈥� and 鈥淛鈥� must be capitalized)听

Once you鈥檙e logged in to My188bet备用网址, go to听Profile > Contact Details听to see your new 188bet备用网址 College email address. Moving forward, this will be the听only email address听used to contact you.

Can I use financial aid?

The are no costs associated with courses under the dual enrollment program, so you will not need financial aid.

You may use financial aid for courses under the College Early Start program; nonetheless, financial aid has eligibility limits that might affect the student once he graduates from high school and wants to attend college as an adult. Students and parents should consider the pros and cons of using financial aid while the student is still in high school.

Who can enroll in dual enrollment courses?

To enroll in the 188bet备用网址 College Dual Enrollment Program, you must:

1. 听Be age听13 and older.
2. 听Be enrolled in the听9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade.
3. 听Be attending a high school that is participating in the Dual Enrollment Program with 188bet备用网址.
4. 听Complete a College Early Start form with high school counselor and obtain all required signatures from parent and school designee.

听Dual Enrollment courses are taken on high school campuses and are geared towards college transfer and career readiness. Course options are selected by your school.听Through Dual Enrollment, you are a 188bet备用网址 college student on an accelerated path to a degree or certificate!听

Students from districts who are dual enrollment partners with 188bet备用网址 College are not required to be in any special academic programs to take the dual enrollment courses. All students in good standing with the high school may enroll.

What are some of the advantages of dual enrollment?

听

Courses are free 鈥� you don鈥檛 have to pay for any fees, tuition, textbooks or classroom / lab materials.
You take classes on your high school campus, ideal for those that are not able to get to the 188bet备用网址 campus.
Dual enrollment courses are not open to the public. Only students within the same high school district may register.
Save money! Dual enrollment can shorten a college trajectory by at least 1 year and save $5,324.
You may register for up to 15 units per term.听

Do I have to pay for classes or books as a high school or Dual Enrollment student?

If you are taking dual enrollment courses, you will not incur any costs for textbooks or classroom materials, nor any tuition and fees.

High school pupils enrolled in courses offered through a CCAP (dual enrollment) agreement to high schools shall not be assessed or charged a fee prohibited by EC 搂 49011, including a fee charged to a pupil, or a pupil鈥檚 parent or guardian, as a condition for course registration or for textbooks, supplies, materials, and equipment needed to participate in the course. EC 搂搂 49010 et seq.; 76004(f)听.

The above applies only to dual enrollment courses. If you are enrolled in 188bet备用网址 College courses open to all students (not just to your high school), you are responsible for the cost of textbooks. Effective fall 2020, you will not be charged any tuition or fees, however.听

Is it okay for me to rent textbooks from 188bet备用网址 Rentals although I am not 18?

You have to be 18 to rent textbooks. However, your parent can rent the book for you. So, when ordering online the name has to be the parent but please make sure they put your 188bet备用网址 ID number on the rental request.

Are Dual Enrollment courses taught by high school teachers?

188bet备用网址 certified instructors teach all dual enrollment courses. In most cases, the instructor will be an existing 188bet备用网址 faculty member who will travel to teach at the high school campus. In some cases, the instructor will be a high school teacher that has been hired and certified by 188bet备用网址 to teach Dual Enrollment courses.

How many dual enrollment courses can I take per year?

You may take up to 15 units per semester, pending continued principal or designee approval. Your counselor may recommend that you take fewer units based on assessment of your maturity level and academic readiness.

If you enroll in dual enrollment听and听other 188bet备用网址 College courses as a College Early Start student, you can take up to 11 units combined per semester.听

Will Dual Enrollment and College Early Start courses count for high school credit?

Each school district will individually determine if these courses will count for high school credit.

What if I am not doing well in a course?

Course requirements and expectations will be clearly outlined by each faculty member at the beginning of the class. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are able to meet the standards set for a college level course.

It is worth noting that the grades you earn while taking Dual Enrollment and College Early Start courses will be added to your official college transcript. It is a good idea to assess your ability to be successful in the course at the start of the term and drop early, if needed, as to not affect your college transcripts.听

How do I drop a course?

You can drop a course in your听听Student Portal.听.

A student may also discuss dropping with the instructor who MAY provide assistance in dropping.听

Reminder:听It is the student鈥檚 responsibility to drop a course 鈥� including knowing the dates for dropping without a 鈥淲鈥� as well as to drop without a grade (but with a 鈥淲鈥�).

There is an issue with my grade and/or 鈥淲鈥� 鈥� how do I correct it?

First, you should discuss the situation with your instructor.
