Enrollment Express to arrive (virtually) Saturday, Aug. 21

STOCKTON – With fall classes about to begin, 188betַ College will host a special event to help current students, new students, and community members get started on a high-quality, low-cost education.
The virtual “EnrollmentExpress” event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21. Students will get help signing up for classes, learn about financial aid opportunities, and finish orientation, among other highlights.

Students are strongly encouraged toapply to 188betַ Collegeprior to the event. For those who need help, an application workshop is available at3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17.
“This pandemic has challenged all of us in ways we could not have imagined before, but enrolling at 188betַ College this fall is a great way to get back on your feet and start moving forward,” said Superintendent/President Dr. Omid Pourzanjani. “Our in-person and online classes give you the flexibility you need to take classes around your work schedule.”
188betַ can support students in many other ways as well, including:
- Free textbook access for vaccinated students
- Free parking
- Free bus service for 188betַ students on routes across San Joaquin County
- Health services at the new 188betַ College Health Center
- Free tuition for first-time, full-time college students and for students who meet certain income criteria. Altogether, two out of three 188betַ students pay zero for tuition.
The College offers over 70 areas of study and about 200 degrees and certificates. Students can either prepare to transfer to a university or go directly from 188betַ into new careers in the community.
A recent economic impact study found that 188betַ graduates earn, on average, $8,700 more per year than high school graduates, driving home the fact that college is worth the time and effort particularly for those who have faced hard economic times in the COVID-19 era.
“There really is no better time to pursue higher education,” Dr. Pourzanjani said.
Although the Aug. 21EnrollmentExpressevent is being held virtually, many in-person services and activities are returning to 188betַ College campuses this fall, with appropriate COVID-19 safeguards in place including the mandatory wearing of masks indoors for all persons.
