The primary purpose of Student Learning Outcomes and Assessment (SLOA) is to evaluate, document, and improve student learning and achievement. The SLOA process involves the systematic collection and analysis of aggregate and disaggregate data, resulting in actionable plans for improvement. Faculty, staff, managers, and administrators develop outcomes and assessments at the course, program, service area, and institutional levels. Clear and measurable student learning outcomes are designed to reflect the skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes students attain upon successfully completing a course and program, preparing to enter the workforce or transfer to a four-year institution, or interacting with support services. Authentic assessments enable faculty to improve teaching and learning practices; they also enable support service professionals to improve operations that will enhance the student journey.
