Academic/Progress Probation Counseling

Academic probation and progress probation status are actions taken by the College to express concern that a student is not maintaining satisfactory academic performance toward a stated educational goal.

Financial Aid Warning and Disqualification听are separate from Academic and Progress Probation. Please contact the Financial Aid Office by visiting their service window on the 1st floor of the DeRicco building for questions about your Financial Aid status. You can also .

1st Semester Probation
First Semester Academic Probation

What is 1st Semester Academic Probation?

  • You have attempted at least 12 units since you began 188bet备用网址 College.
  • Your Cumulative GPA is less than 2.0 or "C" average.

Requirements for 1st Semester Academic Probation Students

Students will need to complete an online workshop.听If the workshop is not completed听it can affect your registration. Check your 188bet备用网址 College email for your Probation notification. The email will contain the weblink that will take you directly to the Online Probation Workshop.

First Semester Progress Probation

What is 1st Semester Progress Probation?

  • You have attempted at least 12 units since you began 188bet备用网址 College.
  • You Have received a Withdrawal (W), Incomplete听(I), or a no credit (NC) in 50%听or more of the courses you have attempted.

Requirements for 1st Semester Progress Probation Students

Students will need to complete an online workshop.听If the workshop is not completed听it can affect your registration. Check your 188bet备用网址 College email for your Probation notification. The email will contain the weblink that will take you directly to the Online Probation Workshop.

2nd Semester Probation

What is 2nd Semester Academic Probation?

  • Your Cumulative GPA is less than a 2.0 or "C" average for two consecutive semesters.

Requirements for 2nd Semester Academic Probation Students

If you are on 2nd-semester Academic Probation you are REQUIRED to complete the Self Assessment Survey and Complete the Probation workshop.

If you are on 2nd-semester Progress Probation you are REQUIRED to complete the Self Assessment Survey and Complete the Probation workshop.

Dismissal
Academic Dismissal

What is Academic Dismissal

  • You have attempted at least 12 units since you began 188bet备用网址 College.
  • Your Cumulative GPA is less than a 2.0 or "C" average for three consecutive semesters

If you are dismissed a notice will be sent to your 188bet备用网址 College email that explains your dismissal status, the appeal process, and the reinstatement after dismissal process. Please refer to this email first.

Reinstatement After Dismissal

A student who has served his/her period of dismissal may request permission to return to 188bet备用网址 College.听The criteria for consideration of reinstatement includes:

  • You were enrolled in a curriculum that was not adapted to your needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Your failure to achieve was the result of a medical or emotional disability which has had sufficient correction to enable significant change in performance for the better.
  • Your failure to perform satisfactorily was the result of family or financial stress.
  • You had other extenuating circumstances that should be considered.

If you are filing an appeal and/or have questions about your dismissal and would like to speak with a counselor, please听make an appointment with a counselor. Make sure you request an appointment specifically for Academic Dismissal.

During your听one-hour听appointment with your Counselor, you will jointly establish a personal plan of corrective action. During the appointment, the Counselor completes a Student Educational Plan outlining your academic and/or career goal(s). Recommended strategies and resources for achieving those goals will be included on the student educational plan.

After your appointment, the Counselor will contact听the Director of Admissions & Records with a recommendation regarding the removal of your Academic Probation hold.

Progress Dismissal

What is Progress Dismissal

  • You have attempted at least 12 units since you began 188bet备用网址 College.
  • You have received a Withdrawal (W), Incomplete (I), or a no credit (NC) in 50% or more of the courses you have attempted for 3 consecutive semesters.

If you are dismissed a notice will be sent to your 188bet备用网址 College email that explains your dismissal status, the appeal process, and the reinstatement after dismissal process. Please refer to this email first.
